Covering the following locations: Birmingham, Derby, Leicester, Oxford

We require one FSE to cover Midlands with some travel across to Ireland, there is a high concentration of work in the Midlands but you will need to be flexible to travel and have good access to roads.

Reporting to: Field Service Manager/ Senior FSE

Prime Job Objective:
High quality instrument and customer support or a range of laboratory diagnostic systems.

Responsibilities:
· Professional handling of customer technical queries related to equipment and systems.
· Efficient scheduling of field service work to prioritise customer visits accordingly and operate effectively.
· Maintain an adequate level of car stock spares in liaison with the Engineering Administration Department and the Engineering Manager.
· Project a professional company image by being presentable to customers and sensitive to their needs. Operate in a tidy manner so Company property such as car, tools and spare parts etc. are used correctly and looked after.
· Maintain a level of business awareness and communicate potential opportunities and threats to the sales teams or appropriate manager, and encourage others to do the same.
· Attend training courses locally and internationally as approved by the Engineering Manager, and follow up with Check & Sell assessments, in order to maintain knowledge at a sufficient level to perform one's duties.
· Assist the Field Service Manager in projects as required.
· Complete accurately and in a timely fashion all administrative duties allocated in accordance with the job necessary for the efficient running of the Engineering Department.
· Liaise with other company personnel as required.
· Understand, follow and support company policy and rules as well as the current Health and Safety at Work legislation.
· Perform any other task as directed and deemed necessary by the Engineering Manager for the effective operation of the Engineering Department and provision of support to customers.


Experience:
Ideally we would like someone experienced in the medical diagnostic equipment field. However, we will train someone if we see good potential.
We are open minded as to the qualifications someone might have. We have a mix of engineers, some with degree level qualifications, and some with years of experience. ONC/HNC is the minimum level however. It is expected that they will have the qualification of Electronic Engineering, Electronics, or similar.

The successful candidate will be able to service and fault find quite a diverse range of systems and components (although seldom to component level).
IT skills: It is important that candidates appreciate that it is moving rapidly toward complete integrated laboratory systems. He or she must be able to understand the techniques for interfacing equipment to each other, and wider networks. Training is given.
The customer should come to see the engineer as a trusted advisor, and someone they can rely on to always look after them.
Also, any individual needs to be able to work as part of a team. That may be as a member of a project team, the Field engineering team, and also the company.
Self-organisation is a skill all staff on the road will need to have or develop. That includes administration of duties, expenses, and any other things that need doing on an individual basis to complete the work.
Driving licence: Preferably the driving licence should be clean with no current points.

Basic salary circa £35k per annum (although flexibility on this dependant on industry experience)
