JOB TITLE: Application Specialist
PRODUCT PORTFOLIO: Transplantation and Transfusion diagnostic products
TERRITORY: UK & Ireland (home based ideally between London and Leeds)
CUSTOMERS: Hospital laboratories

JOB PURPOSE:
We are currently recruiting an Application Specialist for a leading provider of transfusion and transplantation diagnostic products worldwide. This is a field based, customer facing position with responsibility for ensuring successful operation of the company's product portfolio, and also to provide customers with high quality technical instruction and assistance in resolving technical and assay performance problems.

The role will interface with Field Service, Sales teams & I.T. Specialists to manage installations and resolve product software, hardware & assay performance failures. It is expected that time will be split between both Transfusion and Transplant specialties providing support where and when it is required, (the focus will be roughly 70% transplantation and 30% transfusion). This includes resolving product performance issues while enhancing customer knowledge and use of our products.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Promote the company's products via successful demonstration, training and technical Support for new and existing customers.
- Respond to customer complaints via telephone, remote PC connection & on-site visits within a timely manner, governed by the agreed response time metrics.
- Plan, execute & support sales activities/demonstrations, deliver presentations to promote the full range of company solutions, product portfolio and their uses, capabilities and benefits
- Document all aspects of the job with appropriate forms and tools - (LN & Trackwise systems)
- Gather information, market trends and customer perceptions of competitors to assist Sales Team to develop Sales, Marketing and Customer Service strategies, identify areas to increase revenue within a working laboratory.
- Improve customer satisfaction and retention through education of equipment and product optimisation/utilisation
- Identify areas to upsell products at existing customer sites
- Support the Sales Team's objectives from both a commercial and a technical standpoint
- Perform and assist with product investigation and assay related issues
- Perform all work activities in compliance with Company policies and Code of Conduct, local procedures and regulations

PERSON SPECIFICATION:
- A strong background in transplantation is required - Experience with performing Histocompatibilty (HLA) assays is essential
- Experience in Blood transfusion &/or Haematology advantageous
- Optional on-call duties according to separately defined company scheme
- Reactive, unplanned travel to customer sites will be required to respond to emergency and service situations. Some irregular hours maybe necessary to achieve customer expectations for support calls.
- PC Windows & Microsoft office literate.
- Area of prime geographical responsibility is UK, travel to other countries ( EU & USA ) for training & to provide support for other territories may be occasionally required
