Electrical Engineer- sample prepraton equipment for eletcron microscopy
MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB
To ensure that my client maintains their position as the leading provider of Cryo-SEM equipment by developing new products. A new position has been created to meet increased demand for new product development (NPD) with a focus on working with electron microscope manufacturers to develop integrated products.
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The Electronics/Electrical Engineer will be responsible for design and development of a broad range of new products for CryoEM sample preparation. Tasks will include:
Work as part of NPD teams to design and develop electrical/electronic solutions, meeting project timescales.
Liaise with Sales, Marketing and OEM customers to define user interface needs and document them in technical requirements.
Design both analogue and digital electronic systems.
Identify suitable hardware design solutions and take responsibility for their interface and operation
Software and firmware development across a range of products. Defect analysis, debugging and problem solving.
Configuration management and version control
Programming experience to cover a wide range of communication protocols.
Write test specifications for both development and Production.
Design to meet RoHS, Low Voltage Directive and EMC Directive requirements.
Compliance analysis and testing to RoHS, Low Voltage Directive, EMC and any other applicable directives

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR!
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
Degree or HND in Electronics or Electrical Engineering or similar experience
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS
The successful candidate must have:
Considerable electronic/electrical development experience working on scientific equipment or similar.
Programming using embedded C or C++ and experience with Linux
Managing hardware obsolescence and analysis of field failure trends
Must be competent in PCB design.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Microsoft Excel.
Ability to cope with rapidly changing demands on time and prioritise jobs according to urgency.
Excellent communication skills, the ability to challenge and question while maintaining positive relationships.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS
Vacuum system design, build & testing (typical pressures to 1 x 10-7 mbar).
Design of LN2 cooled systems
MRP system experience (preferably SAP Business One)
Conductive coating technology.
BOM structuring and maintenance.
Automation control
