Critical Care units are wards within hospitals that provide monitoring and treatment for patients who are extremely ill. These are sometimes also referred to as Intensive care units, and are used for patients who have had major surgery and may have suffered complications during the procedure. Within these units, specialist equipment is used to monitor patient’s health and provide support until they recover. Examples include ventilators, IV lines, pumps, feeding tubes drains and catheters.
