Having been in the role for a year, we caught up with Matt to find out how he was getting on, and if his needs had been met...
What were you looking for when you were seeking a new role?
"I was looking for a role that covered a smaller territory in a company that I got to use my previous qualifications and experiences more effectively. And of course … increased remuneration if possible."
What benefits have you had since securing your role?
"The financial and security benefits in terms of pension, healthcare and 'death in service' etc. I have got from working for large global company compared to the smaller companies I had previously worked for have been great for both me and my family."
How did you find the recruitment process?
"I found the recruitment process to be fairly smooth and Zenopa kept me informed of what was going on where possible. Like most recruitment processes, it had its twists and its lulls in action, but no real dramas where I didn't know what was going on."
How has your work/life balance improved?
"My work/life balance has improved immensely. Previously I covered a national territory and typically most of my best contracts / leads were 100s of miles from home, so I tended to spend a couple nights a week away. Now, I can travel my entire territory and back in a day and are very rarely away unless it is for training in Barcelona (not exactly a Travelodge in Runcorn...)."
How did you find the service provided to you by Zenopa?
"I found the service provided by Zenopa to be professional, informative, and efficient. I wasn't constantly phoning for updates like I have experienced with other companies, and when I wasn't able to get hold of the person managing my application, whoever answered the phone was able to provide updated info from the file and not just fob me off or ask me to call back later."
Any other comments/feedback that you wish to give?
"I sometimes think that recruitment consultants get a bad rep, like estate agents etc. and some of my friends and colleagues think like that. However, in my experience, I would not have found any of the jobs I have been employed in, and in my last two roles where I wasn't looking for work at the time, been made aware that an even better opportunity was available had I not been contacted by a recruitment consultant. Don't get me wrong, I have been approached for some very unsuitable positions over years from various companies (not Zenopa), but all you have to say is no. I always try to respond if I am approached, even if it is not suitable or I'm not currently looking, you never know when you may need their assistance more than they need yours."
