Beth was looking to work for a company that could offer her great progression prospects and where she could learn new skills. After a chat with Nick and Amy from our Scientific Division, Beth took a huge step out of her comfort zone and was offered a sales role. We caught up with Beth a year into  her role to find out how she was getting on... 

What were you looking for when you were seeking a new role?

"Having been working in the public sector for the NHS for a number of years with poor training and little prospect of progression I was seeking a role where I could enhance and learn new skills in an encouraging and interesting environment. I wanted to work in a place where there was great progression prospects, especially for myself who is very self motivated and works hard. I also wanted to find a job which did not mean I would have to work shifts, with more control over my day to day activities and working hours."

What benefits have you had since securing your role?

"Since starting my role at Menarini Diagnostics I have grown and developed lots of different skills very rapidly and am thriving in the encouraging and highly driven environment of sales. I have learnt how to handle the responsibility of managing my own time, territory and schedule. My confidence and self belief has really grown, as hard work and enthusiasm for the job are rewarded, I am constantly reminded that I am doing great, which makes me want to strive more. My skillset has expanded and previous skills have improved dramatically, having had to develop my communication, time management, self motivation and drive, assertiveness and problem solving skills more and more each day. My role has given me the confidence to step outside of comfort zones in and outside of work, finally having the self belief I needed to complete the Coast to Coast walking challenge on my own."

 How did you find the recruitment process?

"I found it all very easy and straightforward. Especially with this being my first application for a sales role coming from the NHS laboratories, I had great support from Nick and Amy at Zenopa every step of the way. Where I had questions I was able to ask Nick and get the answers right away. I  felt that I was encouraged throughout the whole process, and found the pre interview talk and preparation with Zenopa incredibly helpful and encouraging."

How has your work/life balance improved?

"The biggest improvement has come from no longer working shifts, as I am now free every weekend, and am able to book holidays/time off when I need to. I am also now more available in the evenings on a regular basis to enjoy my hobbies such as running, fell walking and volunteering with  the Scouts. I am able to commit to more and plan better as I no longer have to factor in shifts/my colleagues needs. I see more of my friends and family."

How did you find the service provided to you by Zenopa?

"As previously mentioned, I have felt fully encouraged and supported by Zenopa every step of the process and I know that I could still contact them in future should I require any further advice. Nick and Amy were fantastic at helping me through the application and interview stages and I was always kept well informed at every stage. I also appreciated being informed of other suggested employment opportunities similar to the role at Menarini Diagnostics, which gave me the chance to expand my chances at obtaining a Sales position."

Any other comments/feedback that you wish to give?

"Being contacted by Zenopa via Linkedin was the best thing that has happened to me with regards to my career. I was stuck in a job where I was not progressing, my hard work was not appreciated or acknowledged and I was unhappy with the hours. Being informed about the role at Menarini Diagnostics sparked a thought process in me that made me realise I did not have to stay in a role where I was unhappy, and that there are jobs and roles out there I am better suited to and can be more satisfied doing.

Applying for the role at Menarini Diagnostics and going to the interviews was a daunting prospect and I knew I would be pushed out of my comfort zone, but with the help and support I received from Zenopa I was confident I could get the most out of the experience. Although I never thought I would be offered the job, with it being my first application to a sales role, I was encouraged to go for it and give it my very best.

My whole life has changed since starting at Menarini Diagnostics a year ago, and very much for the better. I have become a happier, more confident and fulfilled individual and absolutely love each new challenge every day brings. I am thriving, and all thanks to the contact from Zenopa. Thank you."
