Company Information

Our client are a bespoke medical education agency who propose, develop and deliver medical educational activities for pharmaceutical companies and they are looking for a Business Development Director to join their team!

The work they undertake comprises of content generation, digital and live events management and other content initiatives. They work across Cardiology, Oncology and Rare Diseases predominately. Due to company growth they are looking to bring in a BD director to join the team!

Key Duties and Responsibilities

Working as a key member of the team, reporting to the MD, leading/supporting on business development activities and strategy for the agency

Tasks include but not limited to:
•  New Sales/business development (with support from LCW CEO)
•  Inputting into the senior management team at commercial level to support a business development strategy
•  Defining a business development strategy and implementing some key elements to support the business
•  Leading on creation of council/website/concept of event (event delivered by project team)
•  Creation of sales offering in year one to industry (sponsored meeting/partnership)
•  Development of longer term strategy around their partners
•  Leading on pitches for the company and medical communication RFPs
•  Develop opportunities for new pitch work and support/lead on process with senior management team/senior Account team
•  Have previous industry contacts to spring board growth within the agency in terms of client bandwidth

Working closely with Project team(s)
•  Joining relevant calls to keep close understanding of projects and to progress actions where required
•  Attending Council meetings to report on business development to the council
•  Attend industry partnership calls to establish relationships with industry and understand their commercial drivers


Person Specification

•  Senior level commercial experience within a medical communications or medical education agency
•  Previous business development or senior client service experience experience in publishing or medical communications organisation
•  Strong client service/client facing skills
•  Strong team working ability to work closely with the project team
•  Previous experience of working closely with HCPs to shape content/programme ideas
•  High level of gravitas and very strong communication skills

Level of Experience
•  Pharmaceutical company or publishing/society/medical communication organisation experience - 4 years plus
•  Account/business development skills - 4 years plus
•  Understanding of pharma compliance and medical communications projects - 1-2 years
•  Understanding of the ABPI code of conduct
