Area Sales Manager

An excellent opportunity for EITHER an experienced clinical diagnostic sales professional OR a commercially aware Biomedical Scientist who is looking to enter scientific sales!

PRODUCTS: Electrophoresis, Immunohaematology & HbA1c testing
CUSTOMERS: NHS & Private Clinical Laboratories
TERRITORY: South UK

Responsibilities:
- Achieving agreed sales and profit targets for instrumentation and reagents.
- Managing and developing growth of business and for coordinating company activity within a designated territory for both active customer accounts and prospective accounts.
- Identifying key decision makers and stakeholders across each account and effectively implement our sales cycle to ensure positive tender outcomes.
- Communications between company personnel and the customer and for ensuring new product implementations go smoothly.
- Developing demand for, and adoption of, new assays and instrumentation.
- Working closely with internal colleagues to develop and implement customer specific strategies.
- Identifying and informing the National Sales Manager and Product Manager of competitor activities or customer trends within the territory.
- Monitoring and managing contract compliance, often engaging with Managed Service Providers.
- Leading tender projects, working closely with personnel to develop tailored proposals.
- Awareness of and proactive adaption to local changes to customer structure, including laboratory networking and consolidation, procurement hubs and developments in clinical care and commissioning pathways.
- Maintaining diary schedule and manage customer information in the CRM (Microsoft Dynamics).
- Delivering product and scientific presentations to customers, focusing on how the company solution can address their established needs.
- Project managing the implementation process to successful go live of customer solutions.
- Any role associated administration (such as expenses), in a timely manner.

PERSON SPECIFICATION:

Experience:
- Proven experience in selling to the NHS at all levels, especially in the field of IVD, OR a comercially aware Biomedical Scientist looking to move into scientific sales
- knowledge of Serum Protein Electrophoresis, HB screening or HbA1c would be an advantage.
- Experience in negotiating and managing contracts, both directly and as a third-party supplier
- Experience in managing the submission of successful tender proposals
- Experience in dealing with multiple customers and ability to manage VIP customer relationships
- Demonstration of strong team-working, especially in a matrix environment

Education:
- Degree or equivalent with a technical, electronics or scientific background
