Water filtration is a process of separating or removing contaminants from a water sample using a membrane. Membranes can have varying pore sizes and surface treatments to filter a sample. Water is filtrated to give higher quality samples and buffers which can be used in chromatography and mass spectrometry for example. Water filtration also has applications in the environmental, pharmaceutical, clinical and food and beverage industries.
