Interested in a sales career within over the counter healthcare
products? Do you know about the industry and the roles
available?
The Personal care products sector is a hugely
expanding market place as the vast majority of us are
taking a greater
interest in our health.
The boundaries are grey, for example, health foods could
be classed as personal care products, but this is not
usually done.
More commonly included are vitamins / dietary supplements,
toothbrushes, pH specific hand creams, disinfectant hand
washes, condoms, sanitary products etc. Most of these products
are being sold through retail outlets, pharmacies and to
a lesser degree, medical institutions.
This is a key growth area with public awareness rising
as marketing direct to the public is permissible. It also
reflects the roles available with much higher bias to marketing
and national accounts than the more critical illness orientated
sectors. The organisations are much more geared to consumerism,
brand value is much stronger and profit margins are potentially
excellent. Within your local supermarket, the shelf space
for these products is visibly increasing.
OTC companies need to raise awareness of their products
amongst consumers, educate them and build their confidence
in purchasing them.
