CVS acquires Shropshire-based Severn Edge Vets

19th May 2017

CVS has acquired Severn Edge Vets, a large mixed veterinary practice employing 135 people across the Shropshire region.

The practice, which operates 12 sites covering a wide area of central and south Shropshire, has approved a merger with CVS in order to strengthen its strategy of upgrading its premises and offering a wider range of services.

Severn Edge was formed six years ago with the combination of two long-standing neighbouring practices and now employs 43 vets. Its Bridgnorth veterinary hospital provides all-hours care for small animals, with its other sites including a dedicated equine and farm clinic.

It has recently pursued a substantial investment programme, including upgrades to its surgery at Madeley outside Telford, and the redevelopment of the site of an additional clinic acquired recently in Craven Arms.

Karyn MacKenzie, director of CVS's practice division, said: "Severn Edge is an impressive practice with an outstanding leadership team and an ambitious and exciting vision for the future, which we share."

This deal underlines CVS' status as the UK's largest and fastest-growing veterinary services company.
