Smith and Nephew included in latest FTSE4Good index

2nd February 2017

Smith and Nephew has once again been included in the FTSE4Good index, emphasising its commitment to good corporate citizenship.

In the latest review, the company performed well on all three key measures of sustainability – environmental, social and governance – meaning it has now been included in the FTSE4Good index every year since 2001.

The FTSE4Good Series is designed to help investors account for environmental, social and governance factors when making investment decisions by identifying companies that make the effort to manage these risks.

These reports are used as a basis for tracker funds, structured products and as a performance benchmark, as well as serving as a framework for corporate engagement and stewardship.

Olivier Bohuon, chief executive officer of Smith and Nephew, said: "Our emphasis is on delivering positive outcomes that advance the long-term prospects for our business everywhere we operate. We will continue to strive to be a responsible business that sets an example for others."

This comes after it was announced last year that Smith and Nephew had retained its position as a member on the Dow Jones Sustainability Indices for a 14th consecutive year.
