Royal Canin launches new urinary stone analysis service

7th July 2016

Royal Canin has announced the launch of a new urinary stone analysis service that guarantees a full analysis and dietary recommendation in ten days.

Available to vet practices across the UK, the service provides full infrared spectroscopy analysis from an independent laboratory, offering insights into the quantitative and qualitative composition of the stone.

By providing information on the stone's mineral type across all layers, it becomes possible for vets to give the best dietary recommendation possible, thus helping them overcome some of the challenges associated with canine and feline urolithiasis.

The  service is available for free for vet practices using more than 250 pounds' worth of Royal Canin urinary diets per year.

Urinary stone formation is caused by dietary trends that influence urine pH, the concentration of minerals within the urine and urine turnover through the bladder. The interactions between causes and inhibitors of urolithiasis are complex, making a tailored nutritional approach vital.

Lee Danks, Royal Canin's veterinary scientific support manager, said: "This valuable service will improve practices' diagnostic capacity, enabling a better understanding of a patient's condition and a much more individualised approach to treatment and long-term prevention."ADNFCR-8000103-ID-801821483-ADNFCR
