Bristol-Myers Squibb names new chief commercial officer

21st June 2016

Bristol-Myers Squibb has announced the appointment of Murdo Gordon to the newly-created role of executive vice-president and chief commercial officer.

Mr Gordon will take up the role today (June 21st) and will assume responsibility for leading the execution of the company's commercial strategy, leading worldwide market activity in addition to a new global commercialisation team.

He has been with Bristol-Myers Squibb since 1989, holding positions of increasing responsibility in Canada in sales and marketing for 13 years before moving to its US operations in 2003.

Since then, he has occupied senior commercial leadership positions in cardiovascular, neuroscience and market access, most recently serving as joint leader of its commercial organisation as head of worldwide markets.

Dr Giovanni Caforio, chief executive officer of Bristol-Myers Squibb, said: "Murdo has made significant contributions to our success in immuno-oncology and Eliquis, and I am confident his leadership will help drive continued growth and deliver our medicines to more patients faster."

The firm recorded a nine percent year-on-year increase in revenues during the first quarter of 2016, leading it to increase its earnings guidance for the full year.ADNFCR-8000103-ID-801820513-ADNFCR
