Fisher and Paykel appoints new director

Fisher and Paykel has announced the appointment of technology sector veteran Geraldine McBride as an additional non-executive director.

Ms McBride will join the company on August 1st 2013 and will take up an independent directorial role, with a resolution concerning her election to be put to shareholders at the company's annual shareholders meeting.

She is a former senior executive of SAP and Dell who previously served as president of SAP North America, while she is also the co-founder of MyWave, a cloud-based consumer-to-enterprise social commerce business.

Ms McBride's career spans 28 years and she is a respected business authority who earned a KEA World Class New Zealand Award earlier this year.

Chairman Tony Carter said: "We believe that Geraldine will bring invaluable skills and experience to further strengthen and complement the current skills and experience of our board."

During the business year ending on March 31st 2013, Fisher and Paykel achieved its best ever performance in profit and revenue terms, with further growth expected during the current 12-month period.
