UCB to report new epilepsy data at IEC 2013
UCB is to sponsor seven data presentations at the upcoming 30th International Epilepsy Congress (IEC) in Montreal, Canada.
The planned programme of presentations includes three abstracts based on Vimpat data, results from three new epilepsy surveys and one abstract examining new in-vitro phenotypic assays for epilepsy.
Results presented during the meeting will add to the positive clinical profile of Vimpat, which is available in both the EU and US for the treatment of partial-onset seizures in adults with epilepsy and is one of UCB's most important therapies.
Professor Dr Iris Loew-Friedrich, chief medical officer and executive vice-president at UCB, said: "We take a comprehensive, patient-solutions approach and recognise the importance of undertaking research to advance our understanding of the disease."
During 2012, sales of UCB's new core medicines Cimzia, Vimpat and Neupro achieved a combined net sales total that exceeded those of Keppra, its previous leading medicine for many years, which has now lost patent protection.
