Biotronik’s DX System displayed at medical innovation showcase

Biotronik's DX System, a first-in-class implantable cardiac defibrillator solution, has been selected for display at a US event showcasing medical innovations that enhance patient outcomes.

The Premier healthcare alliance chose the DX System as one of 14 products that were showcased in front of hundreds of healthcare providers and experts earlier this month, recognising the device's unique qualities and effectiveness.

Comprised of the Lumax 740 VR-T DX or the Ilesto 7 VR-T DX and the Linoxsmart S DX lead, the DX System provides dual-chamber diagnostic capabilities with a single lead, thus greatly aiding efforts to combat heart disease.

It allows clinicians to sidestep the difficulties associated with the use of dual-chamber devices in patients without a clear indication for the use of an additional atrial lead, thus fulfilling an unmet medical need.

Rex Richmond, vice president of marketing and communications at Biotronik, said the device provides "the benefits of a single-chamber, single-lead ICD with the full atrial diagnostic capabilities of a dual-chamber device – but with far less hardware".

Earlier this month, the company reported positive data from Biosolve-I, demonstrating the positive safety performance of the drug-eluting absorbable metal scaffold Dreams.
