Bayer HealthCare highlights success of diabetes care project
Bayer HealthCare has announced that its Excellence Across Borders diabetes care improvement project has achieved a number of key goals since its launch in May 2012.
At a recent conference in Moscow, the company highlighted its success in establishing a diabetic school awareness programme in Saudi Arabia that is due to start in autumn this year and will improve knowledge about current diagnosis, therapy and prevention options.
Additional activities such as the establishment of a region-wide diabetes magazine in the United Arab Emirates are currently being planned as part of the initiative, which aims to build up a network of excellence among diabetes experts in countries with high diabetes prevalence rates.
Gerd-Walter Rohm, initiator of the Excellence Across Borders scheme at Bayer HealthCare, said: "Together, we aim at raising awareness and managing the disease burden and I am proud to state that we have reached a lot within the last year."
Earlier this year, the company commenced a new study assessing the potential efficacy of its drug Eylea as a treatment for diabetic macular oedema.
