Sirona’s Cerec Omnicam wins Clinical Innovations Conference award

Sirona Dental Systems' Cerec Omnicam has earned an award for most innovative product at the tenth annual Clinical Innovations Conference, which took place in London last month.

Organised by Healthcare Learning: Smile-on, the event invited industry representatives to nominate aesthetic and restorative dentistry products to be judged on their groundbreaking performance by a panel of experts.

The Cerec Omnicam is able to generate full-colour scans of intraoral surfaces without the need for a powder coating, offering ergonomic benefits and rapid performance, as well as being no more complicated to use than a simple video recorder.

A permanent crown or bridge with a likelife appearance can therefore be created and fitted in a single appointment using this device, meaning temporary restorations are not needed in most cases.

The company said: "Cerec has significantly improved the quality of treatment for patients, as well as enhancing the efficiency of the dental practice."

Cerec Omnicam was one of the products showcased by Sirona at the International Dental Show in Cologne in March 2013, where a total of 25 new innovations were presented by the firm.
