Medtronic reports positive findings from Endurant study

3rd June 2013

Medtronic has presented new study data that adds to the body of clinical evidence supporting the benefits of its Endurant AAA stent graft system.

Results from a three-year assessment showcased at the Society for Vascular Surgery's annual meeting showed that the device demonstrated durable clinical performance in the endovascular repair of abdominal aortic aneurysms.

The product was associated with 100 percent freedom from aneurysm-related mortality, while zero percent of patients experienced post-implant aneurysm ruptures, stent graft migration or conversion to open repair.

To date, the Endurant system has been used to treat more than 100,000 patients and is available in more than 100 countries around the world.

Dr William Jordan Jr, professor of surgery and chief of vascular surgery and endovascular therapy at the University of Alabama Birmingham, said: "It's particularly compelling to review this mid-term data on the Endurant system, which delivers sustained clinical performance across key endpoints at three years."

Last week, the US Food and Drug Administration approved Medtronic's new Endurant II Aorto-Uni-Iliac stent graft system, for use among patients whose anatomy does not allow for the use of a bifurcated device.ADNFCR-8000103-ID-801593879-ADNFCR
