Welch Allyn devices to connect with Epic’s EMR system

24th May 2013

Welch Allyn has announced that several of its vital signs devices, monitors and electrocardiography units are to offer connectivity with Epic's Electronic Medical Records (EMR) system.

These new automated connection features will eliminate the need for manual data entry by healthcare providers, thus improving efficiency and minimising the risk of errors occurring, while also offering immediate access to accurate patient data.

Devices that will benefit from this new functionality include the Vital Signs Monitor 300 Series and the Spot Vital Signs and Spot Vital Signs LXi systems, as well as number of Connex-branded offerings.

This move will ultimately help clinicians make faster and better-informed decisions on patient care matters.

Garrison Gomez, director of integrated devices at Welch Allyn, said: "By developing connectivity between Welch Allyn devices and EMR systems such as Epic, we can help facilities meet the needs of the clinicians and their patients in a very efficient way."

Earlier this week, the company attended the National Teaching Institute and Critical Care Exposition in Boston, where it showcased products such as the FlexiPort EcoCuff blood pressure cuff and EarlySense Vitals Surveillance System.ADNFCR-8000103-ID-801590309-ADNFCR
