Bayer HealthCare appoints new chief information officer

23rd May 2013

Bayer HealthCare has announced the appointment of Johannes Schubmehl as its new chief information officer (CIO), effective as of the beginning of this month.

He has been with the Bayer group since 1999 and occupied a number of key management roles, acting as CIO of Bayer's CropScience division between 2006 and 2010, before subsequently transferring to Bayer Business Services.

There, he was responsible for the human resources unit, which employs around 1,000 people worldwide.

Mr Schubmehl has been appointed as the successor to former Bayer HealthCare CIO Matthias Moritz, who departed the organisation at the end of March 2013.

In his new role, he will be in charge of key functions within a global healthcare business with a workforce of 55,300 employees and annual sales of 18.6 billion euros (15.91 billion pounds) in 2012.

In the first quarter of this year, Bayer HealthCare's three-month sales advanced by 2.3 percent to 4.44 billion euros, thanks to strong demand for Xarelto, Eylea and Stivarga.ADNFCR-8000103-ID-801589466-ADNFCR
