Henry Schein ranked among 300 biggest companies in US

Henry Schein has been ranked in 296th place in the annual Fortune 500 list of the largest corporations in the US, based on total revenues for their respective fiscal years

This is the first time the dental, animal health and medical company has reached the top 300 of this list, having made its debut in 487th place in 2004.

In 2012, Henry Schein achieved a net sales total of $8.9 billion (5.83 billion pounds) – up from $4.1 billion in 2004 – and has grown at a compound annual rate of 17 percent since becoming a public company in 1995.

Earlier this month, it reported a record revenue total of $2.3 billion for the first quarter of 2013, suggesting it will continue on its upward trajectory this year.

Stanley Bergman, chairman of the board and chief executive officer of Henry Schein, said: "We are committed to maintaining this positive momentum in every market we serve as we pursue our goal of exceeding $10 billion in revenue by 2015."

The firm was also recently included in a Fortune list of the most admired companies in the world and received praise from Ethisphere for its commitment to corporate responsibility.
