Sigma-Aldrich launches scientific search engine
Sigma-Aldrich has announced the launch of a search engine tool that will give researchers easier access to relevant data and information on its sigma-aldrich.com website.
The tool allows users to immediately access millions of full peer-reviewed papers without extra clicks or logins, while also finding applications for specific Sigma-Aldrich products and browsing the Ingenuity gene and biological pathway database.
Access to full-text papers is powered by technology from solutions provider Pubget, with the biological search feature made possible using the Ingenuity Systems Platform using Target Explorer web services.
Amanda Halford, vice-president for academic research at Sigma-Aldrich, said this new tool will assist researchers in "seeking inspiration, investigating how other scientists or laboratories performed experiments, validating the performance or utility of a product or finding supporting papers for experiments".
Last month, the company announced its financial results for the first quarter of 2013, during which it experienced a two percent year-on-year increase in sales.
