PerkinElmer and Blaze Bioscience ally on tumour imaging technology
PerkinElmer is collaborating with Blaze Bioscience to provide a new type of tumour imaging technology for use in surgical oncology research.
A fluorescence imaging system from PerkinElmer is being used with Blaze Bioscience's Tumor Paint technology in surgical-guidance applications in order to enhance surgical oncology outcomes for multiple tumour types in canine patients.
It is thought that by utilising this real-time near-infrared fluorescence imaging solution, surgeons will be able to better determine tumour margins, making it easier for them to achieve complete tumour resection while avoiding damage to healthy tissue.
A statement from PerkinElmer said: "Both the Tumor Paint technology and open air imaging system show potential for future development as veterinary and human clinical tools to aid in surgical oncology."
Earlier this week, the company introduced the new version of its Lead Discovery application for the Tibco Spotfire software platform, providing extensive new chemical structure searching and visualisation features for finding promising compounds.
