BD agrees distribution deal with Bruker for microbiology platform

30th April 2013

BD has agreed a deal with Bruker Daltonics to sell and provide frontline technical support for the co-labeled BD Bruker Maldi Biotyper System.

The international distributor agreement builds on the joint collaboration, co-marketing and co-selling deal signed with Bruker in 2010 and expands BD's offering of mass spectrometry technology for microbial identification.

This innovative device combines with the BD Phoenix Microbiology System and the BD EpiCenter Microbiology Data Management System to provide an integrated approach to identification and susceptibility testing.

It can reduce the turnaround time for critical diagnostic results, while also improving laboratory efficiency and reducing costs.

Jamie Condie, vice-president and general manager for infectious disease at BD's diagnostic systems division, said: "Combining Bruker's expertise in this area with our advanced lab automation experience, the BD Bruker Maldi Biotyper System will enhance our customers' clinical decision-making and laboratory workflow."

Earlier this month, the firm launched a series of new CE Mark-approved assays for use in the detection of gastrointestinal tract infections, in partnership with Diagenode.ADNFCR-8000103-ID-801579516-ADNFCR
