Medtronic appoints new independent board member

25th April 2013

Medtronic has announced the appointment of Scott Donnelly to its board as an independent director, effective as of July 1st 2013.

Mr Donnelly is the chairman and chief executive officer (CEO) of Textron – a multi-industry company operating in the aircraft, defense, automobile, industrial and finance sectors – having occupied this post since 2009.

Prior to joining Textron, he held a number of key roles with GE, including vice-president of technology for GE Healthcare, president and CEO of GE Aviation and senior vice-president and director of GE Global Research.

His broad-ranging experience spanning multiple industries, combined with his extensive technical expertise, will make him an asset to the Medtronic board.

Omar Ishrak, Medtronic's chairman and CEO, said: "I look forward to Scott's counsel as we execute on our twin strategies of globalisation and economic value for patients and health systems around the world."

Last week, the company announced the publication of a new study of its Resolute stent, demonstrating the benefits it can bring to diabetes patients.ADNFCR-8000103-ID-801577281-ADNFCR
