Covidien launches surgical access devices at SAGES 2013

22nd April 2013

Covidien has announced the introduction of two new surgical access devices at the annual meeting of the Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons (SAGES) last week.

During the event in Baltimore, the company launched the SurgiSleeve, its debut offering in the fast-growing wound protector market, which helps to safeguard wound sites against contamination while also providing excellent exposure and visualisation.

Meanwhile, the new Versaport Bladeless Optical 12 mm Trocar offers enhanced visualisation for surgeons during trocar placement to help them minimise the risk of injuries, while its proprietary cannula design enhances fixation for port security and stability.

Steve Blazejewski, president for surgical supplies at Covidien, said: "Collaborating with the global surgical community, we continue to expand and complement our extensive product portfolio. We are focused on delivering high-quality, high-value solutions that meet both clinical and economic needs."

This comes after the firm recently introduced its new cuffless Shiley tracheostomy tubes for neonatal and paediatric patients last week.ADNFCR-8000103-ID-801574842-ADNFCR
