Ansell launches new Gammex Nitrile Antibacterial medical glove

Ansell has released an innovative new type of medical glove that is the first product of its kind to feature antibacterial protection against infections.

The Gammex Nitrile Antibacterial glove features a special exterior coating that has been proven to kill eight common gram-negative and gram-positive bacterial species – including drug resistant strains – with up to 99.999 percent effectiveness.

It is able to do so after only one minute of exposure, thus helping to combat the transmission of pathogens to patients through contact, which is a key concern for healthcare workers across the world.

Made of 100 percent nitrile material and omitting rubber latex so as to minimise allergy risks, the gloves are launching in Canada initially, with a global rollout to follow later.

This follows the launch of its Gammex N95 Respirator and Surgical Mask offerings in December 2012.
