Hologic’s 3D mammography system wins independent recommendation

Hologic has earned a strong endorsement of its breast tomosynthesis 3D mammography technology from KLAS Research, a leading healthcare analyst firm.

The in-depth survey was not commissioned by Hologic and included 50 respondents whose facilities had utilised the company's technology for at least one year, with 98 percent saying they would repeat their decision to purchase the system.

Nearly 90 percent of those surveyed said they are achieving a positive return on investment, as well as a significant reduction in false-positive callbacks, an increase in new patients and various workflow improvements.

Due to the advantages the system offers over traditional digital mammography, KLAS said there was sufficient evidence that the breast tomosynthesis should be considered the new standard of care.

Peter Soltani, Hologic's senior vice-president and general manager of women's health, said: "The ability to achieve a positive return on investment, while providing a leading-edge technology with demonstrated clinical advantages is a win-win situation for everyone."

The company previously announced that it will be organising a special mobile mammography coach tour over the coming months to promote its 3D mammography technology in the US.
