Sirona launches new filter for SIROInspect system
Sirona has introduced a new attachable filter for its SIROInspect caries detection system, which offers a number of advantages over diagnostic glasses.
Using this new filter, dentists will be able to detect carious regions using a red fluorescence light, which reliably and quickly illuminates the cavity during excavation.
It is made of high-grade plastic and filters out light with wavelengths below 500 nm, while being easy to fit and align on the narrow probe using a silicone ring.
When utilising the filter, healthy tooth tissue is distinguished by green fluorescence, whereas red fluorescence signifies the presence of porphyrins produced by caries bacteria in decaying hard tooth substance.
The company said: "The new attachable filter for the probe is a practical alternative to diagnostic glasses and makes caries detection easier."
This is one of a number of new products the company is showcasing at the International Dental Show, which is taking place in Cologne this week.
