CareFusion launches Snowden-Pencer take-apart laparoscopic scissors

CareFusion has announced the launch of its new Snowden-Pencer take-apart laparoscopic scissors, for use in a variety of surgical applications.

The device incorporate sharp sterile blades and can be easily assembled and disassembled, as well as featuring a new insulated shaft for each procedure and an ergonomic reusable ring handle.

Due to its disposable and separable elements, the product is much easier to keep sterile and reduces the need for constant cleaning, while also being more cost-effective than fully disposable scissors.

The manufacturer recently conducted a limited market release to test the scissors in surgical procedures and achieved high levels of customer satisfaction.

Dr Ryan Tyner, a bariatric surgeon at Lovelace Westside Hospital in Albuquerque and Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, said: "The new Snowden-Pencer laparoscopic scissors are very modular, so we can adjust a tray as we see fit to create a very cost-effective approach to our surgeries."
