Ipsen reports year-on-year growth in 2012

30th January 2013

Ipsen has expressed confidence with its financial performance for 2012, during which it achieved a 5.1 per cent year-on-year increase in sales.

The pharmaceutical company's sales total for the 12 months came to 1.22 billion euros (1.05 billion pounds), with annual growth being achieved despite a slight downturn in performance during the final quarter of the year.

Its double-digit improvement in specialty care sales helped to compensate for the relative weakness of its primary care business, while progress was also made in the reorganisation of its French operations and the sale of various haemophilia-related assets.

Earlier this month, Ipsen and its partner Inspiration Biopharmaceuticals agreed to sell off worldwide rights to the haemophilia therapy OBI-1 to Baxter, as well as an Ipsen-owned industrial facility in Milford.

According to the company, these moves will be instrumental in helping Ipsen meet its long-term financial goals.

Marc de Garidel, chairman and chief executive officer of Ipsen, said: "Our therapeutic areas and geographical footprint form robust foundations for the achievement of our 2020 ambition."ADNFCR-8000103-ID-801531202-ADNFCR
