SonoSite’s S-ICU earns praise from University Hospital Llandough
SonoSite has highlighted the positive experience clinicians at the University Hospital Llandough (UHL) in Cardiff have had using its convenient S-ICU ultrasound system.
The hospital – which serves a population of just over 500,000 in Cardiff and the Vale of Glamorgan – recently purchased the unit as part of efforts to establish a more formal pleural service, including a dedicated clinic and ultrasound room.
Dr Helen Davies, consultant chest physician at UHL, praised the device for being straightforward to use and offering good image quality, while also being highly portable, allowing it to be easily moved to other areas of the facility as needed.
Thanks to the S-ICU device, ultrasound scans and guided aspirations can be performed at the same time, streamlining processes and allowing the number of pleural procedures performed to be increased.
Dr Davies added: "It has changed what we do completely, helping to reduce the time from referral to procedure and giving new patients a far swifter diagnosis."
This comes after Glasgow’s Emergency Medical Retrieval Service offered a similarly positive testimony for SonoSite's NanoMaxx ultrasound system earlier this month.
