Pfizer Animal Health provides grant to Suffolk trainee award-winner

6th December 2012

Pfizer Animal Health has provided support and recognition for an up-and-coming poultry sector professional via an annual awards scheme.

The Pfizer Poultry Trainee of the Year Award – which is sponsored jointly by Poultry World and the British Poultry Council – has been presented to Suffolk broiler farm manager Rachel Almey.

Ms Almey manages the Vion Food Group's farm at Laxfield and has been working with the company since 2009, with her first flock of broilers breaking its record for performance.

Her award includes a training grant of 20,000 pounds, which she will use to learn more about the breeding and veterinary side of the business and expand her knowledge of bird welfare.

Vion's regional broiler manager Werner Strydom said: "Rachel does not miss anything and this is what makes her such an exceptional farm manager. With continued support, she will be one of our bright stars for a long time to come."

Earlier this month, Pfizer Animal Health expanded its Vet Support Plus consulting team to include 12 members, in response to rising demand from the market.ADNFCR-8000103-ID-801502426-ADNFCR
