Sirona’s CEO wins award for industry contributions

Sirona Dental Systems has welcomed news that its chairman and chief executive officer (CEO) Jost Fischer has won a prestigious industry accolade.

The Dr Edward B Shils Entrepreneurial Fund, a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to innovative leadership in healthcare, has presented the business leader with its special recognition award for 2012.

According to the body, Mr Fisher was chosen to receive this prize in light of his "extraordinary support in helping build capacity for dental clinics", accomplished through Sirona's equipment and technology grants worldwide.

At a special awards ceremony, he was congratulated by Stanley Bergman – CEO of fellow dental technology firm Henry Schein – who praised him for his entrepreneurial spirit.

Mr Fischer said: "Innovation never stops at Sirona and through our continuous efforts we want to make dentistry better and more affordable."

This comes after it was recently announced that Mr Fischer will be retiring from his post in February 2013, with Jeffrey Slovin to take over as CEO.
