BD launches new injection pen needle for diabetes patients

25th September 2012

BD has introduced a comfortable new injection pen needle designed for diabetes patients who self-administer insulin.

The BD Ultra-Fine Nano Pen Needle with PentaPoint Comfort is the first product of its kind to feature a patented five-bevel needle tip that creates a flatter, thinner surface, allowing it to penetrate skin more easily.

Studies have shown that patients find these new needles to be less painful, easier to insert and more comfortable than traditional three-bevel pen needles, meaning they were preferred overall.

By improving comfort, the device will enhance overall rates of adherence to diabetes therapy regimens, thus helping to achieve better health outcomes.

Linda Tharby, president for diabetes care at BD Medical, said: "We are excited to provide another first-to-market innovation, designed to dramatically improve the injection experience for the millions of people living with diabetes."

Last month, the company announced the acquisition of Sirigen, a developer of polymer dyes used in flow cytometry and other applications.ADNFCR-8000103-ID-801456612-ADNFCR
