DJO Global launches Motivation knee system
DJO Global has launched the new Motivation knee system through its DJO Surgical business unit.
The first Motivation total knee arthroplasty procedure was carried out in the US earlier this month, with the device complemented by a complete instrumentation system designed with simplicity and efficiency in mind.
It is based on the Motivation Posterior Stabilised Knee design, which has been licensed from the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York and improved with a number of additional features, such as a constant axis femoral component and contoured insert condyles.
The device's implementation instrumentation was a key element of the design process, with simple quick-connect handles, colour-coded buttons and magnetic attachments helping to make procedures run smoothly.
Bryan Monroe, senior vice-president and general manager of DJO Surgical, said: "Our goal was to develop a knee system with features that we know have historically performed extremely well, but also incorporate assets that allow TKA patients to remain active."
Last week, the firm announced the appointment of James Lawson and James Quella as new members of its board of directors, following on from the departure of Bruce McEvoy.
