Philips has announced the appointment of Neil Mesher as its new UK and Ireland managing director for healthcare.
Mr Mesher has moved into the role from his former post as managing director of the company's consumer lifestyle division, having been with the company since 1996.
He has been credited with a key role in reshaping Philips' consumer business in the UK over the last few years, helping the company to increase its focus on categories that deliver strong, profitable growth.
Philips has appointed Mr Mesher as the successor to John Atwill, who has decided to retire from the business at the end of 2012 after a 23-year career with Philips.
Peter Maskell, chairman and managing director for Philips in the UK and Ireland, said: "Having worked closely with Neil for many years, I am happy that we have found a strong leader for healthcare within our own organisation."
Last month, the company attended the 2012 congress of the European Society of Cardiology, where it exhibited its latest advances in the field of cardiovascular disease management.
