RCVS launches online PDP record database

4th September 2012

The Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (RCVS) has launched an online professional development phase (PDP) database for veterinary graduates.

Designed as a new module for the Professional Development Record (PDR) tool introduced by the RCVS in April 2012, the PDP clinical skills log allows users to record notes charting their professional development activities.

Documents such as case reports and presentations can be uploaded and stored, while the system also features a user-friendly design and interactive help and guidance functions.

All new graduates from 2012 will be able to sign up to use the new PDP site, with the previous service to be archived within the next year or so.

Freda Andrews, RCVS head of education, said: "We are also developing a system for students to record their practical and clinical experience whilst at university and, once this is complete next year, the PDR will become a complete record of professional lifelong learning."

Later this month, the organisation will be holding a special question time meeting at the Erskine Bridge Hotel in Glasgow, which is intended for veterinary surgeons, nurses and other members of practice teams.ADNFCR-8000103-ID-801442387-ADNFCR
