Fresenius Medical Care has become a full member of the Association of the British Pharmaceutical Industry (ABPI) in order to strengthen its link with the wider UK healthcare sector.
The company, which offers a wide range of products and services for individuals undergoing dialysis due to chronic kidney failure, said the ABPI's support will be invaluable in helping it to manage changing conditions in the industry.
Fresenius has been providing support for NHS patients in various capacities for more than 20 years, including supplying dialysis and renal pharmaceutical products to more than 10,000 homes.
It also operates 54 NHS dialysis clinics that provide high-quality care for almost 4,000 patients in the UK.
Matt Winchester, director of renal pharma at Fresenius Medical Care, said: "This is a critical time for the UK pharmaceutical industry and it is important that all companies are working together and moving in the same direction."
According to figures released earlier this month, Fresenius Medical Care generated sales of $6.68 billion (4.25 billion pounds) in the first half of 2012, up by nine percent year-on-year.
