PerkinElmer publishes 2011 CSR report
PerkinElmer has published its corporate social responsibility (CSR) report for 2011, highlighting the strong progress it has made towards various targets.
The life science firm noted an 11 percent reduction in greenhouse gas emissions last year, thus meeting its goal of a ten percent reduction by 2013 two years early, while water usage and carbon emissions were also slashed.
In terms of community engagement efforts, the company was able to contribute to the March 2011 Japanese natural disaster relief efforts, launch a community volunteer project for its staff and complete a clean water programme in Cambodia.
Meanwhile, a number of measures have been put in place to reduce the environmental impact of PerkinElmer products through more efficient and less wasteful packaging.
Robert Friel, chairman and chief executive officer at PerkinElmer, said: "We will continue to implement operational excellence to improve PerkinElmer's environmental profile, incorporate sustainability principles into our product innovation and increase employee engagement in the communities in which we live and work."
Earlier this month, the company announced its financial results for the second quarter of 2012, during which it experienced a nine percent year-on-year increase in sales.
