Beiersdorf meets expectations in first half of 2012

13th August 2012

Beiersdorf has expressed confidence in its 2012 growth prospects after achieving a 2.6 percent year-on-year organic sales uplift in the first six months of the year.

Group sales for the half-year came to 3.06 billion euros (2.41 billion pounds), representing a nominal annual increase of 5.5 percent, while the firm's operating result was bolstered by 11.6 percent.

In the consumer business segment, all core brands experienced growth, led by an increase of 4.4 percent for the Nivea range, 3.1 percent for Eucerin and 2.7 percent for La Prairie.

Sales for the full year are expected to be three percent above their 2011 levels, while forecasts for annual earnings have been increased to 12 percent from the previous range of 11 to 12 percent.

Stefan Heidenreich, chairman of the executive board of Beiersdorf, said: "We are on the right track with our moves to strengthen our brands and innovative capabilities, as well as expanding our presence and impact on the emerging markets."

Last month, the company expanded its produce range with the launch of the Eucerin DermoCapillaire scalp and hair care range, which is designed to offer both dermatological and cosmetic benefits.ADNFCR-8000103-ID-801427929-ADNFCR
