PerkinElmer has reported satisfaction with its financial performance in the second quarter of 2012 after experiencing a nine percent year-on-year rise in quarterly sales.
The company's revenue for the period came to $521.8 million (333.21 million pounds), up from $479.1 million in Q2 2011, while organic revenue growth was measured at five percent.
Both the human health and environmental health divisions experienced year-on-year improvements during the three-month period.
Operational improvements during the quarter were driven by the expansion of PerkinElmer's range of innovative and higher-value offerings, which has helped to shield the company from the impact of the current depressed economic conditions.
Robert Friel, chairman and chief executive officer of PerkinElmer, said: "Our strong performance in the first half enables us to accelerate investments in our long-term growth initiatives in the second half."
Last month, the company announced the launch of Ensemble for QA/QC, a promising new informatics platform for use in quality assurance and quality control applications.
