United Drug buys contract sales outsourcing provider Pharmexx

United Drug has announced the acquisition of contract sales outsourcing firm Pharmexx from the international trading company Celesio.
The deal has been valued at 35 million euros (27.47 million pounds), with 8.3 million euros of net assets to be acquired and integrated into United Drug's sales, marketing and medical division.
Pharmexx is headquartered in Stuttgart and serves global pharmaceutical manufacturers across Europe and the Americas, employing more than 2,300 people worldwide.
The takeover will aid United Drug's ambition of becoming a truly international provider of outsourced services to healthcare manufacturers.
United Drug chief executive Liam FitzGerald said: "We are delighted to announce the acquisition of Pharmexx. The acquisition is a major step forward in our ambition to become the leading global provider of contract sales outsourcing services to the pharmaceutical industry."
This comes after the firm announced the takeover of communications agency Watermeadow for 13 million pounds in June 2012.
