Smith and Nephew has announced the launch of Allevyn Life, its new wound management dressing that aims to offer better patient outcomes.
The new product features a unique shape that better fits the contours of the human body than traditional offerings, while its material composition is designed to provide better cushioning and minimal pain during dressing changes.
Other benefits include a hyper-absorbent lock-away core to prevent leakage of exudate and a change indicator to avoid unnecessarily early disposal of the product.
Allevyn Life helps to address many of the common issues affecting patients, such as the possible leakage of wound fluid, the unsightly appearance of exudate and excessive wound odour.
Roger Teasdale, president of Smith and Nephew's advanced wound management division, said: "We are very excited about the Allevyn Life product and the impact it can have on reducing the human and economic cost of wounds."
This comes after the company launched its new VLP Foot Percutaneous Calcaneus Plating System and Peri-Loc Ankle Fusion Plating System last month.
