Sirona has been presented with a red dot design award for its Sinius treatment centre, recognising the device as one of the 60 best-designed commercial products of 2012.
The treatment centre - which was developed alongside design agency Puls Produktdesign - saw off competition from more than 4,500 products to claim the prestigious accolade.
Judges praised Sinius for the outstanding design and user-friendliness provided by the product, with dental professionals noting that patients frequently comment on its modern appearance and comfort.
The Sirona offering will now be exhibited in the red dot design museum at the Zollverein Coal Mine Industrial Complex in Essen until July 29th 2012.
Susanne Schmidinger, head of treatment centre marketing at Sirona, said: "Many people invest time, creativity and energy into each individual product. When this is rewarded with such a distinguished prize at the end, it is always a great feeling."
Last month, the company was named as the third most innovative German-based small to medium-sized business at the Top 100 industry awards show.
