Thermo Fisher Scientific to purchase One Lambda
Thermo Fisher Scientific has agreed a deal to acquire transplant diagnostics company One Lambda for $925 million (590.62 million pounds).
The newly purchased company was founded in 1984 and offers diagnostic tests for use in determining the compatibility of donors and recipients pre-transplant, as well as to detect the presence of antibodies that can lead to transplant rejection.
It employs around 320 members of staff and generated $182 million in revenue during 2011, with the business to become part of Thermo Fisher's specialty diagnostics segment once the deal is completed.
The purchase price includes the cost of One Lambda's three-year employee retention programme, amounts payable to certain shareholders for non-competition agreements, and a one-year earn-out provision contingent on certain financial targets being met.
Marc Casper, president and chief executive officer of Thermo Fisher, said: "With its strong technology platform, high margin profile and good growth prospects, the business is perfectly aligned with our specialty in vitro diagnostics strategy."
This comes after the firm acquired specialty production chemicals producer Doe and Ingalls Management earlier this year.
