Procter and Gamble dental products to be used by Olympic athletes

Procter and Gamble has announced that its Crest and Oral-B dental products will be used by dentists serving athletes competing in the forthcoming Olympic Games in London.

The company is working with the London Organising Committee of the Olympic and Paralympic Games to run the official dental clinic for the sporting event, which will provide screenings, routine dental work, emergency care and oral care products for competitors and coaches.

Dental expert Dr Tony Clough will also be working with Procter and Gamble to provide advice on how better oral care can help to enhance an athlete's performance.

The aim of these initiatives is to promote the importance of proper dental health both for athletes and the general public during and after the Games.

Dr Paul Warren, director of global professional and scientific relations at Procter and Gamble global oral care, said: "This partnership is part of Procter and Gamble's commitment to improving lives worldwide."

The company has agreed sponsorship deals with a number of the competing athletes, including British open-water swimmer Keri-Anne Payne, who will be the official brand ambassador of its Oral-B Triumph 5000 with Smart Guide power brush and Pro-Expert toothpaste.
