Life Technologies CSO handed accolade at Ethical Corporation awards

Life Technologies has announced plans to continue driving green developments within its various companies worldwide after chief sustainability officer (CSO) Cristina Amorim was named sustainability executive of the year at the Ethical Corporation's annual Responsible Business Forum awards ceremony.
This accolade recognised her role in improving the corporate and social responsibility of Life Technologies' global sites.
Greg Lucier, chairman and chief executive officer of the company, said: "Life Technologies has made incredible strides in reducing its carbon footprint at its Carlsbad headquarters and throughout its global sites under Cristina's leadership."
He added that Ms Amorim's experience will be vital as the firm continues its commitment to being "a responsible global citizen".
Between 2008 and 2011, Life Technologies reduced energy and water use by 20 percent and 43 percent respectively, while cutting its overall carbon footprint by 16 percent.
The company recently launched a new Global Instrument Center of Excellence in Singapore to meet increasing demand for its products across the world.
